Theatrical Performances

·

Columbia City Ballet

Since Columbia City Ballet’s founding in 1961, it has integrated the world of dance within the lives of Columbians. In that era, the Ballet was a community dance group staging only two performances a year. Columbia City Ballet has increased its total number of major performances to more than 80 per year, reaching more than 51,000 people in a season.

    Trustus Theatre

Trustus Theatre is Columbia SC’s award winning professional non-profit theatre celebrating its 30th season in 2015. Located in the historic Congaree Vista, Trustus presents the newest though provoking entertainment in a comfortable and unique setting. The facility consists of two theatres, the 134-seat Thigpen Mainstage Theatre and the 50-seat intimate Richard and Debbie Cohn Side Door Theatre.

    Nickelodean Theatre

The Nick’s programming is now comprised of a mix of first run independent films, special curated series, and one-off screenings of films of relevance to our community. As big believers in creating more engaging film-going experiences, the Nickelodeon often provides opportunities for conversation before and after screenings, pulling together experts and community members as speakers and respondents.

More than just a movie theater, the Nickelodeon is also the presenter of the annual Indie Grits Film Festival – an annual showcase of the best in Southern DIY film and culture – which was named one of the “20 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by Moviemaker Magazine. The Nickelodeon is also home to the Helen Hill Media Education Center, providing opportunities for members of the community to acquire stronger critical viewing and production skills.
